Ancient city of Petra

I’m a Turkish photographer, and I did three different series
with my dad. So, I was already going to travel to Jordan with my dad,
and I really wanted to photograph something there.
And I was like, “Why don’t I photograph my dad?”
Because he’s been, you know, recording and photographing
all our childhoods, like, first 10 years in our life.
And I kind of wanted to give back the same thing to him.
So I ask him, “I really want to photograph you.”
But he didn’t want it at all in the beginning.
And then we agreed on that, you know?
He obviously didn’t have any idea what kind of stuff I was
going to shoot, and then I’m just like, you know,
I’m just going to document the whole journey and travel.
So we went to Jordan. We kind of did around a 1,500 kilometer
road trip with him. So we pretty much traveled everywhere, like right around.
But, obviously, like, Petra was the most important place to see in, you know,
Jordan. To get into Petra, in Jordan, the whole—this historical ancient city
it was £50, which is… it was 50 Jordanian dinar, which is £50.
So he really, like, lost it. He didn’t really want to pay that much.
So then we got to, like, Jordan. He looked for, like, Jordanian ID.
He looked for, like, you know, disabled cards.
So he asked people who have been in Petra,
“Do you have tickets?” Like, “is it…how does it look?”
Like, “does it look, like, used? Can I reuse your ticket?"
And then as soon as we got in there, he was like,
“Oh, I’m so glad we paid. It’s definitely worth it.”
You know? All the time.
So that’s kind of one of the things I always
like remember about him, in Jordan trip.
